Lung Ching (also known as Long Jing or Dragon Well) is perhaps China’s best-known green tea. The plants grow on steep terraces all around West Lake (Xi Hu) just inland from the city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province on the east coast. The tea is so important to Zhejiang Province that it is protected by geographical indication, to be called Lung Ching the tea must be grown and made in the West Lake area.
