Orange Pekoe can be found in beautiful Barnes; a picturesque, riverside village on the upper reaches of the Thames in leafy South West London. We are less than a five-minute walk from Barnes Bridge railway station and with a variety of bus routes serving the local area, your perfect cup of tea is not too far away! Please read on for more information on how to find us.
PLEASE NOTE that Hammersmith Bridge is currently closed to all traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians, until major safety-critical strengthening work is completed. Please use Chiswick Bridge or Putney Bridge instead.
By bus or tube
From Hammersmith
The nearest tube station is Hammersmith, which is served by the Piccadilly, Hammersmith and City and District London Underground lines. From there, the 533 bus runs between Hammersmith bus station (Stop B) and Barnes via Chiswick Bridge, alight at White Hart Lane (Stop T) for Orange Pekoe. This journey takes around 20 minutes.
From Richmond
Richmond is served by National Rail, London Overground and the District line. The 419 bus runs between Richmond station (Stop C) and Barnes, alight at White Hart Lane (Stop T). The journey takes around 25 minutes. Alternatively, it is 10-minute car journey from Richmond station, should you prefer to take a taxi.
By train
Barnes is served well by trains and it is only a 22-minute journey from London Waterloo. Trains to Barnes Bridge station run every 15 minutes. On exiting Barnes Bridge station, take a left and follow the road along the river towards the White Hart pub. Orange Pekoe is just around the corner on your left, less than a 5-minute walk from the station.
Trains to Mortlake station also run every 15 minutes from London Waterloo, and it is a pleasant 12-minute walk to Orange Pekoe. On exiting Mortlake station, turn right and follow North Worple Way along the railway track, passing rows of pretty cottages. At the end of the road, turn left on to White Hart Lane. Continue straight, passing various independent shops and boutiques. Orange Pekoe is just ahead on your right.
Alternatively, Barnes station is also close. Trains to Barnes station run every 9 minutes from London Waterloo. On exiting the station, you will find yourself surrounded by nature on beautiful Barnes Common. From here you can take a rural walk into Barnes village and along the river to Orange Pekoe. The walk takes less than 20 minutes, but we recommend allowing some extra time to enjoy the variety of independent shops and boutiques that line the high street, and Barnes’ picturesque duck pond.
Please note that neither Barnes nor Barnes Bridge stations offer disabled access.
To find your best route by train please use National Rail Enquiries. Please check before travelling particularly on weekends and bank holidays. From London Waterloo all trains are via Clapham Junction so you can easily reach Barnes Bridge, Barnes and from Mortlake from many other parts of Greater London via South Western Railway, Southern Railway and London Overground.
By bike or on foot
We are a stone’s throw from the river and its tow path which provides the perfect opportunity for arriving by bike or on foot, and what better way to work up an appetite for Afternoon Tea? For example, the walk from Hammersmith takes around 50 minutes on foot or 20 minutes by bike along the river (Hammersmith Bridge is currently closed, but you can walk along the Hammersmith/Chiswick side and cross at Barnes Bridge). There are several bike racks outside the tearoom, opposite our neighbours Barnes Bikes, and cycling hotspot Richmond Park is a mere 15 minutes by bike from us too.
Parking
You can access Barnes by car via Putney, Mortlake or Chiswick Bridge, but there are parking restrictions on the roads directly surrounding Orange Pekoe. Pay and display parking can be on Barnes High Street, which is pleasant 7-minute stroll away, along the river. Closer to the tearoom, there are several residential parking bays which offer free parking after 11am only. To plan your journey by please use Google Maps, our postcode is SW13 0PX.
