Created by the celebrated Barnesbeg Tea Garden, this first flush Darjeeling has large green leaves and produces an elegant, aromatic, soft cup of tea, with the delicious flavour of muscatel grapes.

Plucking season: Late March, early April
Varietal/cultivar: Mostly assamica clonal plants
Flavour profile: Buttery and sweetly honeyed with almond and vanilla notes and the aroma of spring flowers.

Christine Barnes first planted the Barnesbeg Estate in 1877, which is how it became known as ‘Barnes-bagh’ or ‘Barnes Garden’. Rather than grown from seed, the plants now cultivated here have been developed from leaf cuttings cloned from carefully selected ‘mother plants’. This allows the garden managers to know exactly how the bushes will grow, and what the character of the tea will be.
