The Pettiagalla Estate was established in 1880 in a stunningly beautiful region of Sri Lanka that is covered in terraced paddy fields, narrow winding roads and neat tea gardens that seem tailored to the contours of the land. ‘Pettiagalla’ translates as ‘box-shaped rock’, as the garden is named after the huge inverted rock that stands at its entrance.
